Visitor Services Volunteer Program

What Is a Visitor Services Volunteer?
A Visitor Services Volunteer will serve as the ambassador and navigator for all visitors at the Future of Flight. The goal of the Visitor Service Volunteer Program is to enhance the visitor experience by providing readily accessible information on the Future of Flight exhibits, Boeing Tour, and points of interest in the surrounding region.

Duties
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following

  • Present yourself as a welcoming and friendly representative of the Future of Flight; cordially and professionally greet visitors.
  • Learn and provide information and directions on the Future of Flight exhibits, Boeing Tour, and area attractions.
  • Be present on the gallery floor to monitor visitor activity and respond to visitor needs throughout the Future of Flight.
  • Facilitate large groups with admission and orientation of the facility.
  • Perform behind-the-scenes tasks, such as assisting staff with administrative duties, as needed.

Type of Commitment
We ask that all applicants selected to join the program make a six-month commitment and devote at least four hours every week (or four hours every other week if work, family, or other commitments exist). Volunteer opportunities are available during both weekdays and weekends.

Expectations and Training
Applicants must be dedicated, motivated, courteous, and friendly. Applicants must have a basic comfort level with computer usage and phone systems. Applicants must be able to stand for a lengthy amount of time.

Volunteers must continually assess and update their knowledge of exhibits, programs, and customer service values on a regular basis. They will receive training and are expected to engage visitors with the customer service standards adopted by the Future of Flight and the program. Selected applicants must attend training sessions focusing on customer service, cultural awareness, communication and presentation issues, and other areas that will enhance the visitor experience at the Future of Flight.
