Future of Flight Takes First Delivery

Everett, WA — The Future of Flight takes delivery today of an impressive Pratt &Whitney 777 engine. The engine has been making its way across the nation to Everett's Paine Field from Hartford, Connecticut. Pratt &Whitney's model PW4098 weighs in at 14,700 lbs and is 16 feet long and 9 feet wide. One of the world's largest jet engines, it produces 99,000 lbs of thrust and was specifically designed for the Boeing's 777-200 ER and 777-300.

"This engine is a key anchor to the propulsion portion of the Future of Flight's aviation gallery," said Barry Smith the Future of Flight's executive director. "We are thrilled to have such an early and significant partner as Pratt &Whitney. Their contribution of this engine will make the visitor experience unforgettable."
